Moon Clay Oxidation Test Cone 10

This is the Moon Clay (Moon, Oklahoma) fired to cone 10 oxidation and cone 10 reduction (the bar). Absorption (3 hr boil 21 hr soak) is 8.2%. It’s an interesting clay to work with. It’s plastic, but still dries well enough to work. It contains large amounts of iron, but the iron is in fragments rather than being evenly distributed in small particles. In reduction, these fragments melt, giving the clay a captivating speckled appearance. I think this clay may make fascinating bonsai pots. Now I just need to learn how to make bonsai pots.
