This is the batch I dug a few days ago and processed half of it to see if I can recreate the accidental perfect batch. I posted a few days ago.
I kept it a bit thicker and that left too much silt. Fired to cone 6, it was obviously still porous. I didn’t even both doing a test, as it readily absorbed a drop of water.
I will process the next batch to a milk thin slurry so that I get just the clay and not the silt, and add the clay into this batch. I’ll keep adding clay and testing until I get close to the perfect accidental batch.
I wonder if tracking the specific gravity of the slurry would help perfect this? I may give it a try.
