Small Test piece

Description

This is a small piece used to test clay bodies and glazes.   It holds 8oz.   The bottom has been trimmed and sanded smooth. Microwave and Dishwasher Safe.   Can be used as a small vase or succulent pot (if the soil moisture is monitored as it doesn’t have a drain hole).

This is a 50% local clay body with added kaolin and mahavir feldspar.

The item is hand thrown on the wheel, dried to leather hard and then trimmed. When it is completely dry, it is bisque fired (low fired) and then dipped in a hand mixed glaze. The final firing was to cone 9 (about 2300 F with a very slow rise towards the end). After the glaze firing, the bottoms are sanded smooth.

The glaze is Cosmic Blue. It is 48% local materials and contains a low iron clay from our land, sand from our land, and limestone from Idabel.
