Craftsmanship:
This mug is hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel, crafted from a unique clay body composed of 70% local clay that I dig and process from our land south of Idabel, Ok. After shaping, it is dried to a leather-hard state and carefully trimmed. Once fully dried, the mug undergoes a bisque firing at a low temperature to prepare it for glazing. It is then dipped in a hand-mixed Sapphire Blue glaze, which incorporates 16% local materials, including sand from our own land, adding a distinctive regional touch. The final firing reaches cone 6 (approximately 2200°F) with a gradual temperature increase to ensure durability and a flawless finish. The base is sanded smooth post-firing for a polished, table-friendly surface.
