The day before yesterday, I did a test run of my cone 6 glazes at cone 10. The firing went a bit cool at 9.5 but close enough. However, I could not find my underglaze pencil that I use to mark test tiles. I ended up doing dots of glaze and while that worked well, I put it on the top of the feet of the test tiles instead of the bottom and two of them got melted over, so I’m guessing a bit on which is which.
My white glaze and bone did quite well. I had suspected they would, as I felt they were a bit under fired at cone 6. Bone is crazed, but that will probably resolve on my sandy clays. The high iron Matte looks quite nice. I don’t think Okchakko is going to work. It’s too runny, so it thins to brown. I’m on the fence about the Dark rutile Blue. It didn’t run badly at all, but it’s pitted. It would probably benefit from a slow cool. I’m looking forward to seeing how these do in reduction.
